Artist Statement
Welcome to my internet gallery. My name is Leni Friedland and I live in
Suffolk County, Long
Island, New York. My studio and showroom are located
in my home.
Painting, for me, is the excitement of creative exploration.
Each new picture series allows me to abstract various compositions and
elements that apply to the series theme. I use one color pallet for each series
which includes between six to ten paint color choices. Sometimes photographs are
used for reference. Each painting is a personal compositional interpretation of my
subject matter.
Some series are based on figurative elements and others on images of nature.
When I want to explore the exciting world of color, I express my imagination
through the use of abstract forms. My color pallet is always extremely vibrant.
Watercolor is used alone for some series, but I get exciting contrasts with the use
of black ink and watercolor. When mixed media is my choice, I will use colored
inks, acrylics, gouache and /or liquid watercolor.
